🏆 New Team, Same Villain: The 2026-27 Hate Map Got Redrawn
The jerseys changed. The reasons we can't stand these guys did not. Seven players in our Hall of Villains open the 2026-27 season in a different city than they opened the last one, and every one of them brings his baggage on the plane. Here's where your favorite villains landed and why their new fans should be nervous.
LeBron James: Philadelphia 76ers
He told the Lakers he wasn't coming back, then signed a two-year, $8 million deal in Philadelphia, with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown waiting for him. His explanation on X: "I still truly love this game, and I have more to give." Somewhere in Cleveland, Miami and Los Angeles, three fanbases just felt a familiar chill. Nobody in the history of this sport has made picking a team feel more like a hostile takeover. Philly fans boo Santa Claus. Now they're cheering LeBron. Let that sink in.

Paul George: Boston Celtics
Philadelphia shipped him to Boston in the trade that landed Jaylen Brown. So Celtics fans, who spent years yelling at him, now have to cheer for him. Nobody does awkward quite like a Boston fan clapping for a guy they used to boo.
Kawhi Leonard: Toronto Raptors
He brought Toronto its only title in 2019 and then left for Los Angeles that summer. Now the Clippers have traded him back to the Raptors in a deal that sent Brandon Ingram the other way. Toronto fans have every right to wonder how many games he'll actually suit up for this time. Every "load management" night will hit different up north.
Ja Morant: Portland Trail Blazers
Memphis finally moved on, sending its franchise point guard to Portland for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray. The talent is real. So is the history of suspensions. The Blazers are betting on a fresh start. The rest of the league is betting on the sequel.
James Harden: Cleveland Cavaliers
Traded to Cleveland last season, then re-signed on a three-year deal. That makes Cleveland stop number six for a player whose exits have a way of becoming the main story. Cavs fans, enjoy the step-backs while they last.
Trae Young: Washington Wizards
Atlanta traded him to Washington in January, and the Wizards gave him a new four-year deal in June. The man who bowed to Madison Square Garden now has a whole new conference full of road crowds to annoy. New York will be circling the date.
Grayson Allen: Charlotte Hornets
Phoenix sent him to Charlotte in the Miles Bridges trade. New uniform, same closeouts. Opposing guards in the East, protect your ankles.
One Villain Clocked Out
Kyle Lowry retired this summer after 20 seasons, and he went out as a Raptor. Flopping, charge-taking, arguing every call: he got under more skin per inch than almost anyone of his era. His case now lives with the retired legends.
